A career-changer himself, and proof that “it can be done,” in 2011, Tom Powner resigned from a 25-year career in business development, operations and sales leadership to create Career Thinker Inc. He is motivated by years of viewing thousands of poorly crafted resumes and interviewing more than 1,000 applicants—and finding most of them unprepared for an interview. Tom has played a role in hiring more than 400 employees/professionals over his career, from all levels, in multiple industries.
His goal is to make a difference by providing people with the career services, coaching, technology, inspiration and confidence to motivate them to take action and advance their careers. He helps a broad range of clients, but his sweet spot is preparing future executives to connect to their next role.
He believes that everyone needs to be the CEO of their career in order to unleash their personal/professional brand value. Tom leads Career Thinker with a team of writers and career coaches who work one-on-one with clients.
Tom believes in positive karma, living with gratitude and paying it forward. You can find him sharing his expertise via live seminars/webinars and speaking engagements at community organizations, libraries, colleges, alumni groups, corporate events and career organizations.
